The global economic impact of AI is forecast by McKinsey & Co. as more than $19 trillion p.a and commonly divided by the AI sector into two broad areas: enterprise use cases improving existing processes and labour or individual productivity with some overlap.
At equitably.ai, we’re all about helping professionals gain the knowledge and tools they need to make the most of AI. Recently, we had the pleasure of delivering our ‘Fundamentals of Practical AI for Investment Management Firms’ program to the Investment Association. The program is designed to provide AI learning for investors and equip them with the practical AI skills to boost productivity across various areas—whether you’re in sales and marketing, product development, client services, relationship management, investor relations, research and analysis, operations, IT, or HR.

Case studies
The programme remains unchanged at its foundational level. However, one method we use to deliver current and effective training is through real-world case studies. In this session, we did a case study of how you can easily use a Large Language Model (LLM) as a fundamental analyst to complete due diligence on the ESG of a company with increased reliability by combining information extraction with drill-down methods. On the company ‘Marks & Spencer’, we used ChatGPT to:
- Obtain company overview with a focus on financials
- Drill down further to help clarify
- Perform financial analysis and make recommendations as an analyst would in the retail sector
- Extract and summarise specific information from annual reports
